If I had the chance to be hybridized with another animal, I would choose a barn owl. Barn owls are some of the most beautiful creatures I’ve ever seen. Their angelic appearance, with a heart-shaped face and large dark eyes that seem like deep voids of mystery, is captivating. They exude an otherworldly elegance that draws you in, making you want to learn more about them. Beyond their beauty, barn owls possess remarkable abilities that make them even more appealing. They are known for their nocturnal lifestyle, exceptional hearing, and silent flight. Being nocturnal would allow me to stay up later to finish assignments and enjoy more time with friends without the constant urge to sleep early. The enhanced hearing would help me understand people better, eliminating any confusion in conversations. Honestly, wearing earbuds at max volume has probably impacted my hearing—sometimes, you just need the music to be that loud to feel connected! With heightened hearing, I wouldn’t have to crank up the volume as much. The ability to fly is an incredible bonus. If I ever needed to escape and decompress, I could simply take a quick flight, soaring above the world while admiring the view. Flying would offer a sense of freedom that’s hard to match.
As for the extent of this hybridization, I’d have some boundaries especially when it comes to diet and habitat. While I wouldn’t mind adopting the owl’s striking appearance, I absolutely draw the line at eating rodents. That’s a hard no. I’m used to grilled food and normal meats, and I’m not about to change that! Also, I wouldn’t want to live in barns or isolated places away from people. I value my humanity and the connection I have with others. It’s the human limitations that inspire me to push boundaries and strive for things that seem out of reach.
